Love Notes #001

It's been a while ever since I wrote about the things I've been loving. The last time I did this was months ago and ever since then, I've missed doing it. The reason why I have been putting this off is because most 'monthly favorites' post involves beauty products and it's a tag mostly used by beauty bloggers. I, on the other hand, am not one so talking about it feels kind of weird. But then I thought screw it, you know? Besides, writing this kind of post once in a while makes me feel like I'm having a laid-back girl chat with all of you.

The Colourpop's Yes Please palette has been my go-to for months now. I got this for myself as a personal birthday gift and ever since then I've been using it nonstop. The pigmentation is amazing and I love how easy these shadows blend. It's definitely a step-up from what I used to wear back when I first started wearing shadows and that was probably a year ago. I still love browns and neutrals but I feel a lot braver in wearing colors every now and then. Speaking of Colourpop, they are on a roll with new releases and it's insane! I personally don't think every single one of their releases is special but I'm in love with their My Little Pony eyeshadow palette that I decided to get them. Still waiting for it to come in the mail though!

The Garnier micellar water is something that I cannot live without. A lot of people swear by Bioderma but honest with you, I've never used Bioderma at all since it's pretty pricey in where I live. So instead, I swear by Garnier. I love the one in that comes in pink, dedicated for sensitive skin because unlike the blue one for combination/oily and acne prone skin, this one does not break me out.

Another recent favorite is the Hada Labo Gokujyun Ultimate Moisturizing lotion. I am back to loving this product after not using it for months. The only downside is that this is not a pH balancing toner. Instead, it's a lightweight and water-based moisturizer. Since my cleanser is currently higher than my skin's pH (yes, I'm working on changing it!), I have to use a pH balancing toner first beforehand. BUT, this is absolutely a product that I recommend to everyone with normal to dry skin (they have one for oily skin as well!)

I found my HG sunscreen! It's the widely acclaimed Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence! I've only ever tried two sunscreens so far with Biore UV being the second and already I can tell you that I will never, ever change this — at least not anytime soon. There's a reason why this product is extremely hyped and I understand why. It's lightweight, sinks in fast and does not break me out. I was scared at first because they say sensitive skin suits physical sunscreen better and this one is a chemical SPF but voila, so far so good! I am in love with this.

My friend who went to Dutch a few months ago bought me the Nyx Lid Lingerie eyeshadow palette and I have been reaching for it a lot more than I thought I would. The palette consists of six matte neutral shades perfect for transition shade in the crease or outer corner. Although they're not extremely pigmented, they're so creamy and soft which makes blending really easy. I love the second shades from both top and bottom rows the most.

Guys, Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo has got to be one of the best books ever existed. I'm sure you've heard of people raving about this duology but I swear it's not for nothing! When I read Bardugo's Shadow & Bone which was the first book to her Grisha-verse trilogy, I was instantly drawn by the setting and its lore. But Six of Crows is on a whole another level of love. Every single one of its characters is just so interesting and special. My favorite Crows would have to be Nina Zenik, Kaz Brekker and Inej Ghafa. Fun fact, if you are familiar with Leigh Bardugo's works, you'd understand where my twitter name comes from (wink.jpg) I just wish I have more time and strength to read faster. I get tired easily after work that I'm stuck at 45% progress.

South Australian indie alternative rock band, Atlas Genius has been my favorite tune lately. Their song, Trojans is definitely the one I've been constantly looping. Their music is nothing hardcore which is perfect if you are planning to avoid rock 'emo' songs like back in the days. In my mind Trojans is perfect for windy car rides and adventurous getaway. Since I suck at describing music, I'd suggest listening to them directly.

I'm starting to get into the habit of journaling lately. I'd like to credit Hannah for giving me the inspiration though. I haven't gone into bullet journaling like all the other cool kids yet (because I'd hate it if something goes wrong with my lettering and that's just going to ruin my adorable journal!) but I've made a habit of writing down things, mostly blog ideas and work stuff. I do take note of my daily happenings and whatnot on Reflectly and Writeaday, two journaling apps I talked about on this post.

That's it for this month's favorite! I'm not sure if this kind of post resonates with any of my reader but I hope it sort of does. I personally enjoy monthly favorites post when it involves a bunch of things and not just strictly to one category although I don't have problems with those who do it like that.

Anyway, tell me what you think in the comments below. If you have any suggestion for the series name, I'd love to hear it too!
